| Mary Jane's earliest memories of the music she grew up around were gospel, country, folk and old time rock and roll. Early on she learned how to harmonize with her mother's angelic soprano voice. She was also influenced by her father's favorite records from Kitty Wells, The Kingston Trio, Linda Ronstadt and more.
As a young person she was very shy, but "I got over it".
Her first taste of the spotlight was singing karaoke at a local Moose Lodge, she was hooked. She started singing at open mics then with some local country bands.
Like most female country singers, Mary Jane covers a collection of Patsy Cline songs, as Patsy is her greatest influence. But she is also comfortable singing rock, bluegrass and jazz. However, Classic Country is her favorite music style.
Mary Jane's first project, Someday, A Collection of Cocktail Country, was recorded locally in a Falls Church, Virginia studio. "We went into the project with wide eyed innocence that paid off in the end". The engineer had never mix country music before which turned out to be a good thing because he had no preconceived notion about how country is supposed to sound. Long nights recording and mixing and lots of cash turned into a resale quality CD that she is very proud of.
Mary Jane had the privaledge to sing with the Dixie Rebels for several years, MJ & Friends, MJ & The RusTones and is one half of the duet MJ & I with Ingrid Morroy.
